MTG is working with ABB to implement the ABB Ability System 800xA control solution at a new screening and grit removal facility being built as part of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant Optimization Project. Once optimized, the facility will have a maximum hydraulic capacity of 440 million gallons per day and will utilize ultraviolet light to disinfect the treated wastewater.

MWS will use the ABB Ability System 800xA to gain complete visibility into plant operations to enable real time, accurate decision-making. This will allow the organization to reduce the number of interfaces that operators have to manage, minimizing risk and troubleshooting time during the startup and commissioning process.

An additional planned 800xA solution will provide control system optimization while standardizing all MWS water and wastewater plant operations. This will include an upgrade to all drives, instrumentation and electrical components within the plant in order to drive efficiency, increase productivity and reduce the total cost of ownership via an integrated solution.
